NEMA 4X Enclosure Type
Enclosure constructed for both indoor or outdoor use provides a degree of protection against:
- Solid foreign objects (windblown dust) interfering with the equipment inside the enclosure
- Harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose-directed water)
- Falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, and hose-directed water
IP65 Characteristics
The IP Code reflects the degree of protection as “IP” (Ingress Protection) followed by two numbers. The numbers that follow IP each have a specific meaning. The first indicates the degree of protection (of people) from moving parts and the protection of enclosed equipment from foreign bodies. The second defines the protection level that the enclosure provides from various forms of moisture (drips, sprays, submersion).
